Why do people use self storage?

The reasons people use self storage are many. For most people self storage is the simple solution to the problem of not having enough space in their home or apartment to store extra items. People also use self storage when they are in the process of relocating to a new area or moving to a new home.  Our entire facility is Climate Controlled, see WHY you should choose us!

 

How does self storage work?

Do-It Yourself Storage provides customers with their own individual space. Self storage differs from traditional storage in that the owner of the goods is responsible for, and retains control over their goods after they have put them into storage. You secure your storage unit with your own lock, keep the key, and have access to your goods 24/7. You can put extra items in, take items out, or move to a smaller or larger unit if you need to. You have complete flexibility.

 

What can be stored in my unit?

Furniture, books, files, camping equipment; anything from a few boxes to a full household. Items that do not meet safety requirements are not permitted such as hazardous or toxic materials. Anything that would be combustible or explosive in nature such as a can of gasoline or cans of paint, dynamite, etc is NOT allowed.

What are your storage rates?

Do-It Yourself Storage has the lowest prices around for climate-controlled self storage and even competitive rates with outdoor mini storage.  See our Sizes/Prices page for all pricing or rent 24/7 at our KIOSK.

 

What is the minimum time that I can store for?

There is no minimum or maximum to how long you can store as a tenant, our lease agreement is month to month.  We only require 5 days notice prior to your rent being due so we know you will be vacating.

 

How long will it take to move-in?

The entire move-in process should take less than 10 minutes renting the unit on our 24/7 KIOSK.  Moving your items into your unit will depend on how much stuff you have.

 

What kind of documentation do I need to rent a unit?

A valid driver's license with photo, passport or photo ID is required to lease a unit.  Our 24/7 KIOSK also takes your photos and finger print and we prefer a valid email address as this will allow you to receive monthly invoices, pay ONLINE and communicate with the owners.

 

What kind of security is available at Do-It Yourself Storage?

Do-It Yourself Storage has video recorded surveillance cameras outside and inside the facility.  We also require a valid driver's license with photo, passport or photo ID to lease a unit and our 24/7 KIOSK takes the photo and finger print of every customer.

 

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Debit cards, Checks and Cash and you can pay at our 24/7 KIOSK, ONLINE, AutoPay, Mail or Phone. We offer and recommend utilizing our automatic monthly credit or debit card billing. You can pay monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or yearly (2 months FREE if yearly). We will bill you prior to you your unit rent due date. Rent is always due on the anniversary date of when you rented.

 

Do I need insurance?

Insurance is the tenant's responsibility, however Do-It Yourself Storage requires and recommends stored property insurance. If you are a home or business owner your insurance policy may cover stored property. Otherwise, our locations offer excellent insurance coverage at very reasonable monthly rates at the time of rental or it can be added at anytime.

 

What are your hours of operation?

Do-It Yourself Storage rents units 24/7 ONLINE or via our KIOSK and then you will have access 24/7 as well.  Please call for personal assistance or hit the call button at anytime on our KIOSK and they will assist you as well.

 

Should I make a reservation?

Availability changes on a daily basis. Our ONLINE Portal and our 24/7 KIOSK shows the availability at all times and we do NOT need a reservation.  Visit our Reservations Request page to reserve a unit or find out more info.

 

Do you offer other services ?

We sell locks at the 24/7 KIOSK as a convenience for customers.  We do not rent trucks or sell moving supplies, but we have a Moving Center with info about moving companies and truck rentals.  We also have a variety of Storage Tips we have provided for customers.
